Honesdale, Pennslyvania is known as "The Birthplace of the American Railroad." In keeping with this tradition the Wayne County Historical Society houses a full-scale replica of the Stourbridge Lion, the first steam locomotive.  Also, one of the original coach cars is here which is accessible for touring. Come journey back in time during the rich traditions of Wayne County which greatly contributed to the economic boom of the coal and cut glass industry.


Wayne County offers some of the most beautiful state parks, rivers and lakes for you to enjoy.  Go kayaking, canoeing and hiking at Prompton State Park.  Nearby is Lake Wallenpaupack one of the largest man-made lakes in Pennsylvania with a shoreline of 52 miles.

 The Stourbridge Line
 The Stourbridge Line Rail Excursions have been postponed for the 2013 season. For those of you who are train or history buffs, take a trip back in time at the Wayne County Historical Society where a full scale size replica of the Stourbridge Lion is housed.
